Registering debt assistance with your municipality
Signing up for debt assistance has a waiting period of about 4 weeks. Within that time, your municipality must schedule an initial interview with you. If the situation is imminent, you can often get help sooner.
An imminent situation occurs when:
- You are being evicted from your home
- your gas, water or electricity is cut off
- your health insurance is terminated
You can find more information about debt assistance at the Legal Aid Office or at your own municipality.
